As you know, we are in constant conversation with our leaders in Chatham County and the towns of Pittsboro and Siler City to advocate for support for affordable housing. In a recent article in the Chatham News + Record, we learned that there is a possibility of Chatham County enacting an Article 46 tax, which is estimated to be approximately $1.6 million annually. While Chatham Habitat is not advocating for an increase in sales tax, it is in our best interest to let our County Commissioners know that if this tax is enacted, we would like at least some of it to be used to establish a dedicated funding source for affordable housing.
Here’s what we need you to do:
We need you to send letters, emails, and postcards. Make phone calls. Tell your Chatham County friends and family to do the same. Let’s make sure that our leadership hears our voice – we need affordable housing in our community.
