our homes
Nearly 100 Habitat homes have been built throughout Chatham County, including Siler City, Pittsboro, Silk Hope, and Bear Creek. The typical Chatham Habitat house is between 1,056 and 1,100 square feet with 3 to 4 bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms. The average cost to build a house is $65,000.
Chatham Habitat houses are typically built using wood frame construction, gypsum board interior walls, fiber cement board siding and either metal or asphalt shingle roofs. Homes have also been constructed out of alternative materials such as aerated autoclave concrete blocks.
Families select among numerous house plans and also choose their lot (when applicable), the exterior color of their house and trim, type of flooring, kitchen cabinets, exterior doors, countertops, and more. All homes include a front porch, outdoor storage space, and a rain catchment system. Houses feature 2, 3, or 4 bedrooms, depending on the size of the family.
Homes are built in communities, on individual lots, or on your own property.
