Tithe Program

Building homes in Bangladesh, Africa, Haiti & Honduras

Chatham Habitat not only partners with families in Chatham County, we also partner with families in need overseas, mostly in Bangladesh, Africa, Haiti and Honduras.

For every house we build in Chatham County, we donate $2,000 to Habitat for Humanity International to help fund the construction of safe, decent housing where the need is greatest. Thus, when two homes are completed in Chatham County, one home is just beginning to take shape abroad.

In all we have contributed more than $175,000 since 1991- enough to build homes for approximately 52 families in need overseas.

When we say your gifts of time and money go a long way, we mean it.

Global Village Trips

mongolia-photo-4A Global Village trip is an adventure with a purpose. Chatham Habitat volunteers and staff have participated in numerous trips, from Mississippi to Mongolia. They experienced other cultures, made lasting friendships, and gained new perspectives on the world – all while making a difference in the lives of others.

With over forty countries involved in the Global Village program, volunteers can choose an exotic location near the mountains of Kyrgyzstan, along the coast of Fiji, or near the game reserves of Tanzania. You can also travel to China, Madagascar, India, Papua New Guinea, or Egypt. There are even Global Village locations closer to home, such as Costa Rica, Brazil, Paraguay, and Guatemala.

Global Village trips last one to three weeks but the experience lasts a lifetime.
