PITTSBORO – Mark your calendar for Tuesday, March 2 for the Raising the Roof Burrito Bash, featuring a funky fashion show with designs made from recycled materials, including items from the Home Stores and Second Bloom. The event will take place from 6-9 pm at the General Store Cafe in downtown Pittsboro. Tickets include delicious burritos and chips & salsa by the General Store Cafe. Proceeds will benefit Chatham Habitat for Humanity and Family Violence & Rape Crisis Services, working together to create safe and peaceful homes.
Pam Smith will be the esteemed Mistress of Ceremonies, with music by the Bad Mothers and a performance by W.I.N.G.S. Fashion models include Mayor Randy Voller, graphic designer Lesley Landis, Sheriff Richard Webster, County Commissioners Mike Cross, George Lucier, and Tom Vanderbeck, Betty & Jane Allen Wilson, Home Store Manager Howard Alston, Nona Mensah, Ilana Dubester, Melody Eggen, Victoria Cox, and more. The audience will cast votes for their favorite fashions via donations, so bring your bills and your checkbook. The team that generates the most “votes” wins a prize.

As part of the Raising the Roof event, a 70” high definition television is up for bid via a silent auction at the Habitat Home Store, located at 425 West Street in Pittsboro. The set was originally purchased for $8,000 by a filmmaker and its current estimated value is $4,000. The opening bid is $900, with a buy-it-now price of $2,500. The winner will be announced during the Burrito Bash on March 2. Proceeds will benefit FVRC and CHFI.
